Selling 22ct & Asian Gold in the UK
22 carat and Asian gold is among the most valuable jewellery you can sell — far purer than everyday 9ct. We're specialist buyers of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi gold, and we pay for that high purity. Here's what yours is worth.
What Is Your 22ct Gold Worth?
Send us a photo of your 22ct or Asian gold and we'll value it against today's market — free, with no obligation. Our specialists reply within one working day.
If you have Asian gold — the rich, deep-yellow jewellery given at weddings and passed down through families in the Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities — you're holding some of the purest, most valuable gold there is. At 22 carat, it contains more than twice the pure gold of everyday 9ct British jewellery, and it's priced accordingly. Yet it's often undersold by buyers who don't understand it. We do.
Why 22ct Asian gold is worth so much more
The number that matters is purity. British high-street jewellery is usually 9ct — just 37.5% pure gold. Traditional Asian gold is typically 22 carat (91.6% pure), and sometimes 23 or even 24 carat. Gram for gram, 22ct contains roughly two and a half times the pure gold of 9ct, so it's worth far more by weight. That deep, warm yellow colour you can see is the purity itself.
| Carat | Mark | Pure gold | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9ct | 375 | 37.5% | Everyday British jewellery |
| 18ct | 750 | 75% | Fine jewellery, engagement rings |
| 22ct | 916 | 91.6% | Asian / wedding gold |
| 24ct | 999 | 99.9% | Pure gold, some bridal pieces & bars |
What we buy
We buy all forms of Asian and high-carat gold: bangles and kara, necklace and haar sets, jhumka and earrings, tikka and matha patti, rings, chains and pendants, and bridal sets — whole or broken, worn or boxed. Coins and 24ct bridal gold too.
How We Value Your Gold
Honest, transparent and explained — never a lowball for "unusual" gold:
- Purity tested — We confirm 22ct/916 (or 23/24ct) precisely; not all Asian gold carries a UK hallmark, so we test it properly.
- Accurately weighed — Each piece weighed on calibrated scales.
- Live market price — Valued against the current gold price on the day.
- Stones accounted for — Any kundan, polki or gemstones assessed separately.
- Whole or scrap — Sold by weight, or kept whole if a piece is worth more intact.
Look for a 916 stamp for 22ct — but don't worry if there's no UK hallmark; we test to confirm.
Selling family and wedding gold — with respect
We understand that Asian gold is rarely "just" gold. It's wedding jewellery, dowry, gifts from parents and grandparents — pieces with deep meaning. We treat every valuation with discretion and care, never pressure you to sell, and are happy to value a collection simply so you know what it's worth. If you decide to sell, you'll receive a fair price that reflects the true high purity — not the discounted rate some buyers quietly apply to gold they don't understand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Selling 22ct and Asian gold in the UK — common questions.
How much is 22ct gold worth per gram?
22ct gold is 91.6% pure, so it's worth far more per gram than 9ct (37.5%). Its value tracks the live gold price applied to that high purity. Request a free valuation for today's exact figure on your pieces.
What does the 916 mark mean?
916 means 91.6% pure gold — i.e. 22 carat (22 ÷ 24 = 0.916). It's the standard purity for traditional Asian and wedding gold. If your piece shows 916, it's 22ct.
My Asian gold has no UK hallmark — can I still sell it?
Absolutely. Much Asian gold isn't UK-hallmarked, or carries marks from abroad. We test the purity ourselves to confirm the carat, so a missing hallmark is no problem at all.
Will I get a fair price for high-carat gold?
With us, yes. Some buyers under-pay for Asian gold they don't understand. We value it precisely on its true purity (22ct, 23ct or 24ct) against the live market, so you're paid properly for that higher gold content.
Can I sell broken or single pieces of Asian gold?
Yes — whole sets, single bangles, odd earrings or broken chains are all bought by weight and purity. We'll also flag if a piece is worth keeping whole.
