Frequently asked questions
Something else? Send us photographs or a question and we will reply within one working day.
Can I sell gold online without visiting?
Yes. Send us photographs for a free valuation, then post your gold to us insured or book a free FedEx collection. We inspect it when it arrives and pay you the same day you accept our offer. You never need to visit, although you can see us in Mayfair or Braintree if you prefer.
How much does it cost to send my gold?
Nothing. The FedEx collection from your home is free. If you post your gold by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed instead, we refund the postage in full, whether or not you decide to sell.
Is my gold insured in the post?
Yes. Every parcel is covered by our own insurance up to £10,000 from the moment it is collected or posted until it reaches us. If your gold is worth more, tell us before you send it and we will arrange the safest way.
Do you price match?
Yes. If you have a genuine written offer from another UK buyer for the same item or items, dated within the last 7 days, send a copy with your items. We will match it, or tell you honestly why we cannot. The offer must be for the same pieces and from a UK business that buys them. Auction estimates and melt or scrap-value quotes are not included.
When do I get paid?
The same day we inspect your gold, by bank transfer, once you accept our offer. We let you know as soon as your parcel arrives.
What if I do not accept the offer?
We return everything to you at our cost, tracked and signed for. There is no fee and no obligation at any stage.
Do you buy broken gold?
Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, bent rings and damaged or incomplete pieces are all welcome, and they can go in the same parcel as the rest of your gold.
Do you buy gold without a hallmark?
Yes. Many older and foreign pieces carry no British hallmark, and some marks wear away. We check every piece when it arrives and tell you what it is before we make an offer.
Which gold pieces are worth more than scrap?
Antique and Victorian jewellery, signed designer pieces, gold watches, sovereigns and pieces set with good stones are often worth more as what they are than as old gold. That is why we value every piece individually instead of as one lot.
Should I write gold on the parcel?
No. Use plain packaging and never write gold, jewellery or a value on the outside. Wrap each piece separately and use a small, sturdy box.
Can you send me a postage pack?
Yes, free of charge. Press ‘Request a free postage pack’ on this page and give us your name, address and what you are sending. We aim to post it within 2 working days. When your items are packed, press ‘I’m ready to send’ and we will email you a prepaid Special Delivery label.
