Van Cleef & Arpels has used tiny golden beads — "perlée" — since the early 20th century, edging its jewellery with a soft, hand-finished granulation. In 2008 the house built a whole collection around it. Where Alhambra is about the clover and its stones, Perlée is about pure, warm gold, and it has become VCA's signature all-gold line.
What is Perlée?
The signature is rows of small polished gold beads running over bangles, rings and necklaces. Lines include Perlée Couleurs (with stone or enamel motifs), Perlée diamonds (a row of diamonds alongside the beads), signature and pearls of gold bangles, in yellow, white and rose 18ct gold. Pieces stack beautifully. Genuine VCA Perlée is signed, numbered and hallmarked.
