Does Cartier Jewellery Hold Its Value?
Whether Cartier jewellery holds its value comes down to the collection, the condition and whether you have the box and certificate. The core collections, the Love, Juste un Clou, Trinity and Panthère, are recognised everywhere and Cartier still makes them. Fashion-led and heavily worn pieces hold less. A free value inspection tells you where yours sits.

Why the core lines hold up
Three things keep demand steady. The designs are instantly recognised, so there is always a buyer who knows what they are looking at. Cartier still makes them, so they never look dated. And they are straightforward to check, from the engraving to the serial, so buyers can buy with confidence.
- 1Recognised
- 2Still made
- 3Easy to check

Vintage Cartier and watches
Vintage and city-signed Cartier, such as Cartier London or Cartier Paris pieces, sits in a collector market of its own, and Cartier watches are valued as watches. Our guide to which vintage Cartier holds its value best, and our Cartier watch value guide, cover both in detail.

How to tell a genuine piece
Every Cartier piece we buy is checked for a clean Cartier signature, the 750 or PT950 mark, a serial number where the model has one, French marks on French-made pieces, and finishing to match. For every house we buy, see how we check designer jewellery.

What is my Cartier worth?
Your piece is valued on its model and size, any diamonds, its condition, whether you have the box and certificate, and current demand for that model. We never publish figures, because two pieces that look alike can differ a great deal.

Questions people ask
Does Cartier jewellery hold its value?
It comes down to the collection, the condition and whether you have the box and certificate. The core collections, the Love, Juste un Clou, Trinity and Panthère, are recognised everywhere and still made, and genuine pieces in good condition are the easiest to sell. Fashion-led or heavily worn pieces hold less. A free value inspection tells you where yours sits.
Which Cartier pieces hold value best?
The Love bracelet is the most recognised, especially complete with its box, certificate and screwdriver. Juste un Clou, Trinity and Panthère follow, valued on their model, size, diamonds and condition. Vintage and city-signed pieces sit in a collector market of their own. Every piece is valued individually, so send photographs for a free value inspection.
How do I sell Cartier for the best price?
Keep everything that came with it: the box, certificate, receipt and, for a Love, the screwdriver. Do not polish or repair it first. Send clear photographs of the piece and its engraving to a buyer who checks it in person, and compare the offer. We give a free value inspection and pay the same day after inspection.
Does a Cartier box and certificate add value?
Yes. A box and a certificate whose serial matches the piece make it easier to sell and support the value, and for a Love bracelet the screwdriver matters too. But many genuine pieces have lost them, and we buy those as well, valuing the piece itself on its model, condition and authenticity.
Does second-hand Cartier lose value?
Every piece differs. It comes down to the collection, the condition and completeness: heavily worn, damaged or fashion-led pieces are worth less. Condition and completeness make the biggest difference you can control. Send photographs and we will tell you where your piece sits, free and with no obligation.
Is vintage Cartier worth more than modern?
Often, when it is genuine, signed and original. Period pieces, especially those signed Cartier London or Cartier Paris, were made in small numbers and are what collectors look for. A modern piece in excellent condition can still be worth more than a worn vintage one. Our vintage Cartier guide explains more.
