Designed by Aldo Cipullo — the same hand behind the Love — and launched in 1971, Juste un Clou ("just a nail") wraps a single oversized gold nail around the wrist. It captured the rebellious spirit of 1970s New York and, after a celebrated relaunch, has become one of Cartier's defining modern lines, sitting right alongside the Love bracelet for desirability and resale.
What is Juste un Clou?
The piece is exactly what its name says: a bent gold nail, head at one end and point at the other, curved into a bracelet, bangle, ring or necklace. It comes in yellow, white and rose 18ct gold, plain or set with diamonds, in classic and slimmer (SM) widths. Like all Cartier, genuine pieces are signed, marked 750, serial-numbered and hallmarked.
What drives its value
Metal & diamonds
Diamond-set and rose/white-gold above plain yellow gold; full pavé highest.
Model & size
Classic width over the slimmer SM; a commonly worn size resells more easily.
Box & papers
Original certificate and box lift value and speed the sale.
Condition
Light wear is normal; deep scratches or polishing-thinned gold reduce value.

Frequently Asked Questions
Cartier Juste un Clou — common questions.
Does the Juste un Clou hold its value?
Yes — like the Love, it's an in-demand Cartier icon, so genuine examples resell for a strong share of retail, especially with box, papers and in popular metals and sizes.
How much is a used Juste un Clou worth?
It depends on metal, model (bracelet, ring, SM), diamonds, size, condition and papers. Send a photo of the piece and its engraving for a free, accurate valuation.
Is Juste un Clou worth more or less than the Love?
They're broadly comparable; the exact figure depends on metal, diamonds and model. The Love has the longer track record, but Juste un Clou demand is strong and growing.
How do I check mine is genuine?
Genuine pieces carry the Cartier signature, 750 mark, serial number and hallmark, with a crisp nail form and finish. See our spotting-a-fake-Cartier guide, or send photos.
Do I need the box and papers?
No — we buy without them, but the certificate and box increase value and speed the sale.
Can you value it on WhatsApp?
Yes. Message +44 7494 214652 with photos of the piece and engraving and we'll reply with a figure, usually within a working day.
