Tag Heuer Watch Value, and How to Sell
Tag Heuer watches hold their value best in automatic chronographs, the Carrera and Monaco above all, and vintage Heuer chronographs from before 1985 are actively collected. Quartz and entry models are valued more modestly. How much your Tag Heuer is worth depends on the model and reference, the movement, its condition, and whether you have the box and papers. Send photographs for a free valuation, with a reply within one working day, and you are paid the same day after inspection if you sell.

Do Tag Heuer watches hold their value?
Tag Heuer has a busy second-hand market, so good watches sell. Demand is strongest for automatic Carrera and Monaco chronographs, for the Autavia and other heritage chronographs, and for vintage Heuer from before the brand became Tag Heuer in 1985. Aquaracer and Link automatics follow; Formula 1 and quartz models are valued more modestly, and Connected smartwatches lose value as their technology ages. Complete papers and a recent service make the biggest difference within any line.

How much is my Tag Heuer worth?
Whether you search "how much is my Tag worth" or "value my Tag Heuer", the answer comes from the same five points:
- The reference
Engraved on the caseback in a letters-and-numbers format, such as CBN2010 or WAY201A, it identifies the line, size, dial and movement.
- The movement
Automatic chronographs, such as those with the Heuer 01, Heuer 02 or Calibre 16, sit above three-hand automatics, which sit above quartz.
- Condition
The bezel, crystal, bracelet and case, and whether the chronograph works properly.
- Box, papers and service history
The warranty card and any Tag Heuer service record.
- For vintage Heuer
the originality of the dial, hands and bezel, and the correct movement for the reference.
Send the reference and photographs for a considered figure, free, within one working day.

What is written above the date window on a Monaco 1133B?
The original Heuer Monaco reference 1133B, introduced in 1969 with the automatic Calibre 11, was made with several dial variants, and the text printed near the date at 6 o'clock differs between them. Rather than judge a Monaco on that one line of text, we check the reference 1133B on the caseback, the Calibre 11 or 12 movement inside, and the printing, hands and case against the known variants for its production period. If you own a vintage Monaco, send us clear photographs of the dial, the caseback and the movement and we will tell you which variant you have.

Vintage Heuer: what collectors look for
Heuer was founded by Edouard Heuer in 1860 and became Tag Heuer in 1985, so "vintage Heuer" means the chronographs signed Heuer alone. The Autavia arrived in 1962, the Carrera in 1963 and the Monaco in 1969, the year Heuer, with its partners, introduced the automatic chronograph Calibre 11. Collectors look for original dials, hands and bezels, panda and reverse panda dial variants, unpolished cases and the correct movement for the reference.

Do Tag watches go up in value?
Most modern Tag Heuer watches do not rise in value; they are bought to wear. The exceptions are found among vintage Heuer chronographs and some limited editions, where collector demand has grown. If you own an early Carrera, Autavia or Monaco signed Heuer, it is worth having it valued properly rather than sold as a used modern watch.

Selling with or without box and papers
We buy Tag Heuer with or without the box and papers. The warranty card supports the date and identity of a modern watch, and a Tag Heuer service record adds to it. Neither is needed to sell.
With box and papers
- Serial on the papers matches the watch
- Date and place of sale
- Service records and work done
Without them
- Serial and reference identify the model
- Movement correct for the reference
- Dial, hands and case checked against the reference
How we check a Tag Heuer is genuine
- The reference and serial, engraved on the caseback and consistent with any papers.
- The movement and calibre, correct for the reference.
- The case, dial, bezel and bracelet, including the printing, the date window and the bracelet's clasp, against the reference.
- Box and papers, checked against the watch.
- Ownership. Photo ID and proof of address, and a check against a stolen watch register.
- ADial and printing
- BBezel
- CCrown
- DReference and serial, between the lugs on many models
- ECaseback: reference, serial and any hallmarks

Questions about selling TAG Heuer
How much is my Tag Heuer worth?
It depends on the reference engraved on the caseback, the movement, automatic chronograph, automatic or quartz, the condition, and whether you have the box, papers and service history. For vintage Heuer, originality matters most. We do not publish prices. Send the reference and photographs for a free valuation within one working day.
Do Tag Heuer watches hold their value?
Automatic Carrera and Monaco chronographs, heritage models and vintage Heuer hold demand best. Aquaracer and Link automatics follow, while Formula 1, quartz and Connected models are valued more modestly. Papers and a recent service help any model. Send yours for a free valuation and we will tell you where it sits.
Do you buy the Carrera and Monaco?
Yes, and the Aquaracer, Formula 1, Link, Autavia and Monza, in automatic and quartz, as well as vintage Heuer chronographs. Photograph the dial, the caseback with its reference and the bracelet, and tell us whether the chronograph starts, stops and resets cleanly.
Can I sell a Tag Heuer with no box or papers?
Yes. We buy Tag Heuer with or without the box and papers. We check the watch itself: the reference and serial, the movement and calibre, and the case, dial and bracelet. Papers and service records support the value of a modern watch, but their absence never stops a sale.
How do you know a Tag Heuer is genuine?
We check the reference and serial on the caseback, the movement and calibre, and the case, dial, bezel and bracelet against the reference, with any box and papers. Fakes of popular Carreras and Monacos are common, so we look at the movement, not just the dial. We also ask for photo ID.
How fast do I get paid?
You are paid the same day after inspection, once a price is agreed, by bank transfer or in cash. At a Mayfair or Braintree appointment that happens during your visit. Watches posted to us or collected by FedEx are inspected when they arrive, and payment follows that day. If you decline, we return the watch at our cost.
Do you buy vintage Heuer from before the Tag Heuer name?
Yes, including early Carrera, Autavia and Monaco chronographs, Camaro and Silverstone models, and Heuer stopwatches and dashboard timers. These are valued individually on their reference, dial, movement and originality. Please do not have the dial restored or the case polished before sending us photographs.
Do Tag watches go up in value?
Most modern Tag Heuer watches are bought to wear and do not rise in value. The exceptions are vintage Heuer chronographs and some limited editions, where collector demand has grown. If you own an early Heuer, have it valued properly rather than sold as a used modern watch. Our valuation is free.
Which Tag Heuer watches hold their value best?
Vintage Heuer chronographs from before 1985, such as the Carrera, Autavia and Monaco, are the most sought after. Among modern models, Carrera and Monaco chronographs with box and papers are the easiest to sell.
