Questions people ask

Which watches do your guides cover?

Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Universal Genève, plus gold dress watches, Art Deco watches, English, Swiss and American pocket watches, Albert chains and military watches. If you have one, send photographs and we will tell you more, free.

How do I identify my watch?

Start with the name on the dial and movement, the reference or serial numbers and the marks inside the case. Our guides to dating a watch and telling if it is solid gold explain each step. Send photographs and we will identify it, free.

How is a watch valued?

On its maker and model, the movement, its condition and originality, and any box and papers, judged against current demand and recent sales. Each guide shows what matters for its watches. Send photographs for a free value inspection. Send a clear photograph and we will tell you honestly what we see.

Where do I sell a watch?

To a buyer who checks the watch in person before paying. We buy watches directly: a free value inspection from photographs, then an appointment in Mayfair or at our Braintree office, post or free collection, paid the same day after inspection.

How do I identify a vintage watch?

Start with the name on the dial, then open the case back and look for the case reference and serial number and the calibre on the movement. Those numbers identify the model and date it.
