  • Once known for his profound statement, "Jewellery is the most expressive ornament a woman can wear," Nicholas embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of jewellery design over two decades ago. After graduating from the prestigious Gemmological Institute of America in Vicenza, Italy, he chose to establish his design studio in the vibrant city of New York. It was an unsurprising choice, considering his upbringing in a family deeply immersed in the realm of sophisticated design.

Nicholas's father, Carleton, gained renown as an interior designer and owned the renowned Dorothy Draper brand, while his mother, Suzanne, founded the esteemed textile firm Carleton V. Growing up, his travels around the world exposed him to the captivating beauties of nature and the diverse richness of various cultures, fuelling his passion for organic and nature-inspired jewellery.

As a jewellery artisan, Nicholas masterfully blends precious metals, rare natural pearls, and vibrant gemstones with unconventional materials like wood, cork, eggshell, and coral. This unique approach results in unexpected beauty rarely seen in traditional fine jewellery. His designs carry a whimsical aesthetic that beautifully balances boldness and creativity.

Throughout his illustrious career, Nicholas has received numerous accolades as an artist. In 2006, he was honoured to be inducted into the esteemed CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America). Notably, he was the featured designer for the grand opening of the Gem and Mineral exhibit at the renowned Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. Forbes recognized his talent and named him one of "Five Jewelleers Working Today That You Will Be Collecting Tomorrow." His work has graced the pages of prestigious publications such as Veranda, Town and Country, Vogue, Departures, and W magazine. Nicholas's exceptional craftsmanship also earned him a spot in the notable book "21st Century Jewellery Designers: An Inspired Style" by Juliet Weir-de la Rochefoucauld. Moreover, he was prominently featured in the esteemed book "Jeweller: Masters, Mavericks, and Visionaries of Modern Design" authored by SteIlene Volandes.

In his pursuit of creativity and inspiration, Nicholas divides his time between the sunny landscapes of Florida and the serene embrace of his beloved farm in Millbrook, New York. Through his masterful creations, he continues to shape the world of jewellery with a touch of unparalleled artistry and an enduring passion for the beauty of nature.
