Morgan silver dollar dated 1889 with the O mintmark of the New Orleans Mint, a United States one dollar coin in 0.900 fine silver.
The New Orleans Mint struck coinage from 1838, closed through the Civil War, reopened in 1879 and worked until 1909. Its dollars carry an O below the wreath on the reverse, shown in the close up image.
The obverse carries Liberty in a Phrygian cap wreathed with cotton and wheat, designed by George T. Morgan, who came to the United States Mint from the Royal Mint in London. The reverse sets an eagle with outstretched wings above a wreath.
