Eisenhower Centennial silver dollar dated 1990, a United States commemorative in 0.900 fine silver struck in proof for the hundredth anniversary of his birth.
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on 14 October 1890. He commanded the Allied invasion of Normandy as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force and served two terms as the 34th President from 1953.
The obverse by John Mercanti carries two profiles of the same man overlaid, Eisenhower the five star general facing right and Eisenhower the president facing left, the first United States coin to treat a portrait this way. The reverse by Marcel Jovine shows his home at Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, the only house he ever owned.
