Eisenhower Centennial silver dollar, a 1990 United States commemorative coin in 0.900 fine silver with the double portrait picked out in 24 carat gold, struck for the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Eisenhower was born on 14 October 1890. He commanded the Allied invasion of Normandy as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force and served two terms as the 34th President of the United States from 1953.
The obverse carries two profiles of the same man overlaid, Eisenhower the five star general facing right and Eisenhower the president facing left, the first United States coin to treat a portrait this way. The reverse shows his home at Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, the only house he ever owned.
