A pair of 18KT gold clip earrings modelled as bunches of grapes, each cluster built from fifteen oval natural rubies set close together and tapering to a point, with sculpted gold vine leaves curling above. Thirty rubies across the pair, approximately 1.50 ct in total.
The rubies are claw set individually and packed at slightly different heights so the bunch reads as three dimensional rather than flat, and the leaves are chased with veining and polished bright against the matt of the fruit. Early 20th century goldsmithing of the naturalistic kind, where the subject is modelled rather than suggested.
The fittings are clips, so they need no pierced ears.
