  • Silversmith Ignaty Sazikov is famous for his efforts to update the industry. Sazikov was exposed to silversmithing at a young age. His Moscow-based jeweller and silversmith patriarch, Pavel Fedorovich Sazikov, ran a successful business.
Ignaty began his apprenticeship with his father when he was still a young man, his father taught him everything he needed to know about the trade.
As soon as his father passed away in 1830, Ignaty moved the family's workshop from Moscow to St. Petersburg, where he established a factory and a training programme for eighty aspiring gold and silversmiths.
Jewellery, figurines and sculptures depicting historical and genre scenes, and tablewares and vertu in the Neo-Russian style were the primary areas of production.

Once Sazikov took control of the corporation, it underwent a period of radical reinvention, modernization, and increased success.
