    The silver frames are mounted in marble plaques.

    Silver is hallmarked with maker’s mark of Gavriil Petrovich Grachevi, 84.silver purity and Imperial Warrant (a double-headed eagle).

  • In 1866, Gavriil Petrovich Grachev established a silversmith firm in St. Petersburg.
    After Gavriil’s death in 1873, the business was continued by his sons Mikhail, Alexei, Grigorii, Simeon, Nikolai, Gavriil, Petr and Ivan, and thereafter became known as ‘Grachev Brothers’.
    The Grachev brothers firm was active in ( 1866 - 1918 ).

    Recognised for exceptional design and quality, Grachev Brothers received a number of important commissions from European royalty and nobility. In 1886, the company became a principal supplier to King Christian IX of Denmark and in 1892 was appointed court supplier to His Imperial Majesty Tsar Alexander III. Pieces by Grachev Brothers are in private collections around the world, including the collection of the British Royal Family, and the firm continues to be known for its royal associations.
