Made in Germany, Hanau. Ca. 1880's
Hallmarked with Pseudo Hanau marks.
Tested positive for 800 silver.
This antique silver charger dish from the 19th century is embossed with scrolls and foliage, depicting a historical battle. It has an engraved rim of fruits on mask faces, all within scrolling foliage. The centre is finely engraved and chased to show an intense battle scene showing knights on horseback fighting in armour at the top of a hill- which appears as though it is part of castle ground or scenery-before descending into further detail that displays more armed soldiers ready for combat below them. This piece was in Hanau Germany around 1880's.
