This 800. silver and ormolu set of four figural groups represent the artist's mastery of early 20th century Neapolitan craftsmanship.

First group is depicting two putti holding grapes and pomegranates, Second group is depicting two putti holding a bird each, Third group is depicting two putti with one of them holding a lamb and the last group is depicting two putti, each of them holding a fish. The figural groups are mounted on ormolu with scroll bases.
Figures bears hallmarks that attribute the work to Luigi Avolio and date it to the first half of the 20th century.

HISTORY:

Luigi Avolio is one of the most important and prolific Italian 20th century sculptors. His work was included in the Venice Biennial in 1932 and he exhibited at the Rome Quadrennial from 1938 to 1942. In 1940, he completed a commission for the church of Santa Maria della Grazia in Naples. This set would be a beautiful addition to any collector's home or museum collection.
