Coronation 40th Anniversary 1993 Five Pound Crown, Queen Elizabeth II
Coronation fortieth anniversary five pound crown dated 1993, struck by The Royal Mint for the anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen was crowned in Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953. The crown was the first British five pound coin issued for a coronation anniversary.
The reverse by Robert Elderton sets St Edward's Crown at the centre of a burst of rays, ringed by the words Faith and Truth I Will Bear Unto You, taken from the homage sworn at the coronation, with the dates 1953 and 1993 below. The obverse places the Queen's portrait within a circle of mounted heralds and standards.
