Large 18KT Gold Art Nouveau Style Figural Signet Ring with Armorial Seal

£13,800.00

Large 18KT gold figural signet ring in the Art Nouveau manner, the shank formed by two reclining nude female figures among flowers, the cushion face engraved with an armorial seal.

On each side a woman lies along the band with her arms raised behind her head, her long hair streaming back towards the face and a sash knotted at her hips. Five petal flowers and leaves are chased around the figures on a matted ground, so the polished bodies stand out from the gold.

The signet face is engraved in intaglio so that it seals in wax. An oval shield holds a swan with raised wings, framed by scrolling mantling, with a crown above and two crossed keys behind. Crossed keys beneath a crown are an ecclesiastical device; the swan is the personal charge.
