Each diamond sits in a platinum claw setting at the ends of a fine bypass shank, so the two stones meet at the centre of the finger. The shank is stamped 18CT & PLAT, the mark of platinum-topped 18ct gold used around 1900 to 1915, when toi et moi rings were a favourite engagement design.
