18KT gold hunting trophy ring, a wide tapering band chased in high relief with a stag's head, foxes and the gear of the chase.
At the front a stag's head with full antlers sits above a netted game bag. On each side a fox's head looks out from among crossed guns, a hunting horn and a powder flask, set in oak and acanthus leaves on a stippled ground. Polished reeded borders run along the top and bottom edges, and the back of the shank is grooved.
Trophies of this kind, the quarry and the hunter's equipment gathered into a single composition, were a favourite subject of European sporting jewellery.
