18KT gold amethyst intaglio signet ring, a rectangular step cut amethyst engraved with a full coat of arms, in a heavy mount with engraved floral shoulders.
The arms are cut deep into the stone: a shield surmounted by a helm and crest, with mantling flowing down each side, so the ring seals a complete achievement in wax. The amethyst is a clear lavender purple and is set open at the back, so light passes through the engraving.
The shoulders are engraved with flowers and scrolls on a matted ground, rising to a raised rubbed bezel. An owner's name is engraved in copperplate script inside the shank.
