Victorian Diamond Cluster Pendant Brooch, Approx. 6.76 ct, Silver Topped 9KT Gold

£8,950.00

A Victorian diamond cluster brooch that converts to a pendant, built as a double halo target around a single old cut diamond of approximately 1.70 ct. Roughly 6.76 ct of old cut diamonds in total.

The construction is the standard of the period and the reason these pieces still look alive under low light. The diamonds are set in silver over a 9KT gold back, silver being chosen to sit white against the stones while the gold carries the strength, and every stone is cut by hand so no two throw light in quite the same way.

The brooch pin unclips and a diamond set bail is fitted, so it wears on a chain or on a lapel. Old cut diamonds hold light rather than throwing it, giving the softer candlelit glitter these were designed around.
