Victorian 18KT gold emerald and pearl cluster ring, a step cut emerald framed by four small emeralds and four pearls between pierced scroll shoulders.
The cluster is laid out as a cross: the rectangular emerald in the centre, a pearl at each side, and a small round emerald in each corner, all held in white collets that lift the green against the gold. The shoulders open into pierced C-scrolls that curl back on themselves, and the back of the head has a glazed compartment, a feature found on nineteenth century sentimental rings.
