Georgian 18KT Gold Portrait Miniature Ring, Painted Lady Under Glass

The sitter is shown head and shoulders turned slightly to the right, her hair powdered and dressed in soft curls with ringlets at the neck, against a grey blue ground. The oval bezel is closed at the back, worked as a radiating fluted shell that turns about the centre, and the shoulders are pierced and chased with foliate scrolls before narrowing into a slender shank.
