Ametrine is one of nature's genuine curiosities — a single quartz crystal that grew through two distinct colour phases, half citrine and half amethyst, divided by a knife-sharp natural boundary. Commercial ametrine comes almost exclusively from one source, the Anahí mine in Bolivia, and stones of this size cut to show the division squarely across the face are far less common than the small calibrated goods usually seen.
The stone is claw-set in an open-sided gallery so light passes through from behind, and hangs from a smooth flexible gold snake chain.
