Peter J Rodgers 'Evening by the Lake' Signed Limited Edition Print 7/95
Evening by the Lake by Peter J Rodgers, a signed limited edition print numbered 7 from an edition of 95. A grand domed building stands lit against a night sky while figures gather along the water's edge below, and the whole scene falls again into the water as warm orange reflection.
The upper half is worked in deep blue black scattered with points of light, the lower half in amber and rust broken by white lamp reflections. Between the two runs a dark horizontal band of promenade carrying the crowd, painted as a line of silhouettes with their reflections dropping away beneath them.
Peter J Rodgers paints from his studio in Newcastle, and traces his subject back to childhood visits to the Quayside with his father. Weather and light carry his pictures: wet pavements, figures under umbrellas, strings of lamps and long vertical reflections dragged down through the foreground. Sell out solo exhibitions across the north of England led to shows in London, and his work is now held in collections in Europe, Canada and the United States. This edition was published by DeMontfort Fine Art.
The print is mounted behind glass in a black wooden frame with a fine gilt inner edge, matching the presentation used across this collection.
