The modelling is carried almost entirely in tone. The line of the back and shoulders is lifted in white against the deeper browns around it, the hair falls loose to one side, and the surrounding ground is left finely textured rather than filled in. The sheet carries a deckle edge, which the framer has left visible.
The work is float mounted over a second mount with a fine grey bevel, glazed, and set in a distressed gilt and black wooden frame.
