Victorian 9kt Gold and Silver Diamond Reindeer Brooch

£4,950.00

A rare and whimsical example of late 19th-century animalier jewellery, this antique Victorian brooch is modelled as a leaping reindeer dramatically struck by a stylised arrow, adding narrative depth to the piece. Beautifully crafted in 9 karat rose gold with a silver front, it is pavé-set throughout with approximately 160 rose-cut diamonds, each individually bead-set to evoke the lifelike texture and shimmering movement of the animal in flight.

Constructed in hollow form with remarkable three-dimensionality, the reindeer's pose is full of vitality, its expressive antlers and outstretched limbs captured mid-leap. A ruby-set eye brings further animation to the face. The arrow, intentionally designed to pierce through the body, reinforces a sense of motion and story, possibly referencing themes of mythology or Victorian romanticism.

The reverse is fitted with a secure hinged pin and early clasp fitting, with fine attention to detail evident in the brooch’s construction and finish.
