Antique Victorian presentation box by C.F. Hancock, late Storr & Mortimer, of oval form in burgundy leather, the navy velvet base fitted for a cross pendant on its chain.

The silk lid is printed with two crowns and the Council Medal 1851 roundel above C.F. Hancock, late Storr & Mortimer, Jeweller & Silversmith, to The Queen Adelaide and The Emperor of Russia, 39 Bruton St, London. Hancock had been a partner in Storr & Mortimer before founding his own house in Bruton Street, and the 1851 medal is the one awarded at the Great Exhibition. The navy velvet base is shaped to the outline of a cross, with a channel for the chain.
