A compact antique French jewellery presentation box retailed by Neubauer of Menton, on the French Riviera.
The shaped rectangular case is covered in green crackle-effect material with traces of gilt decoration around the borders. It opens by means of a brass push-button to reveal a cream satin-lined lid printed “Neubauer, Menton” and a flat black velvet base.
The open velvet interior does not contain a conventional narrow ring slot. Its flat format is better suited to a brooch, pendant, pair of earrings, small jewellery ornament or compact medal. A ring could also be displayed loose within the case, although the original fitting appears more likely to have accommodated a flat jewel.

Condition :
Fair antique condition with visible age-related wear. The green exterior displays scratches, rubbing, surface losses and worn gilt decoration, particularly around the corners and edges. The cream satin lining has creasing, loose threads and light discolouration. The black velvet base shows compression and minor marks from previous use. The printed Neubauer, Menton branding remains clear, and the hinge and push-button closure are present.
