The square case is covered in black textured leather and decorated with a fine gilt border. It opens by means of a brass push-button to reveal a pale gold velvet interior with a central horizontal ring slot.
The satin-lined lid bears the Joseph Bell retailer’s name beneath a crown emblem, together with a partially legible address. Its small proportions and fitted interior make it suitable for an antique engagement ring, solitaire, signet ring or compact gem-set ring.
