The imprint is set out under a crown and reads 142 JAYS 144, OXFORD ST. LONDON. W., DIAMOND MERCHANTS, ESTD 1706, a foundation date that puts the firm's origins in the reign of Queen Anne. The case is covered in deep blue leather with a white and gilt tooled border, the base fitted with a black velvet ring slot.
