A square antique jewellery presentation box retailed by J. Schofield, Watchmaker and Jeweller.
The case has a warm reddish-brown leather exterior decorated with a gilt tooled border. It opens to reveal a cream satin-lined lid bearing the retailer’s mark and a pale yellow velvet base without a fixed jewellery-shaped recess.
The open interior makes the case suitable for a brooch, pendant, small necklace fitting, compact jewel or pair of earrings. Its versatile square format allows jewellery of different shapes to be displayed without being restricted by a fitted insert.
The box dates from the early decades of the 20th century and retains its original push-button opening mechanism.

Fair antique condition with general wear consistent with age. The leather exterior shows rubbing, fading and edge wear. The gilt border is worn in places. The interior fabric displays discolouration and minor marks, while the velvet base remains intact. The button closure and hinge remain present.
