Antique Cartier Clock or Medallion Presentation Case with Easel Stand, New York Paris London

£495.00

Antique Cartier presentation case of the 1920s in tan leather, opening like a pair of doors to a circular aperture, with a folding easel at the back so the case stands upright on a desk.

The lid silk is blocked in gilt with the Cartier cartouche and the three houses: New York, 653 5th Ave; Paris, 13 Rue de la Paix; London, 175 New Bond St. Cartier moved its New York house to 653 Fifth Avenue in 1917. Inside, the right-hand door is fitted with a yellow velvet panel cut with a round opening of about 5 cm, the frame for a small clock, medallion or miniature, and the left-hand door is lined in cream silk. Both doors close on a brass clasp, and the exterior is tooled with a gilt border on every face.
