Antique 19th century oval red leather presentation box made for a locket, mourning jewel or miniature, opening on its side hinge to a dark green velvet interior.
Both halves are domed ovals in red grained leather with a gilt edge, held shut by two small hook clasps. Inside, each half is lined in deep green velvet, the base shaped to hold an oval locket or brooch. An old dealer's ticket numbered 59 is fixed to the back.
