Cocktail watches

Cocktail watches are small dress watches made as jewellery, usually with a diamond or gem-set case or bracelet and a small dial. They were made from the Art Deco period, when platinum and diamond cases were common, through the 1950s and 1960s, when gold bracelet and ring watches became popular.

Jewellers' watches

Many of the finest ladies watches were sold by jewellery houses: Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Chanel and Asprey. The case and dial carry the retailer's name, and the movement is often made by a Swiss maker for the retailer.

Quartz, manual and automatic

Each listing states the movement. Manual wind watches are wound by the crown each day; automatics wind themselves with wear; quartz watches run on a battery.
