An impressive Chinese export solid silver dragon box, crafted circa 1880–1920 from substantial heavy-gauge silver , 900 purity and intended for the Western market.
The rectangular form, with gently rounded corners and a hinged lid, is beautifully chased and repoussé—tableau scenes show two sinuous dragons in high relief, chasing the flaming pearl across a finely stippled background. An oval cartouche on the lid top remains vacant, suggesting a place for personalization. The interior houses a dark wood lining.
Please note: Interior has been professionally restored.
Hinges operate smoothly. -
