Pre-1947 British silver coins contain 50% silver. Pre-1920 British coins are sterling silver (92.5%). Commemorative coins may have numismatic value beyond their silver content.

To sell silver cutlery: (1) Check for hallmarks (925, Sterling, EPNS) to identify solid silver vs. plated, (2) Take photos, (3) Send them via our form or WhatsApp. Sterling silver cutlery has significant scrap value based on weight. Incomplete sets are fine. Silver plated cutlery (EPNS) has minimal scrap value.

Sterling silver is 92.5% pure (marked 925) with 7.5% other metals for durability. Fine silver is 99.9% pure (marked 999) and softer. Sterling is most common for jewellery and cutlery. Fine silver is used for bullion coins and bars. Both have scrap value based on silver content and weight.

Silver plated items (EPNS, Silver Plate, SP) have minimal scrap value — just a thin coating over base metal. We can assess them, but payouts are very low compared to sterling silver. Check for 925 or Sterling hallmarks to confirm solid silver.
