Edwardian platinum and diamond bar brooch, a 1.00 ct old cut diamond at the centre of a long openwork bar set with further old cut diamonds, 2.40 ct in total.
The bar is built as two millegrain edged rails of platinum that swell around the centre and taper to each end, the space between them pierced with leaf shapes and set with a line of collet diamonds. The principal diamond sits in a round collet at the heart of the design, with three graduated collet diamonds running out to each side.
Bar brooches like this were worn at the collar or on the lapel in the Edwardian years, when platinum let jewellers make settings this fine and light. The pin is gold.
