Victorian Diamond Brooch & Pendant with Articulated Drops
A late Victorian diamond brooch of real scale and quality, 6.5cm across, its openwork scrolling foliate frame massed with old cut and rose cut diamonds and hung with three articulated drops that swing freely as they are worn.
The centre is an old mine cut diamond of about 0.60 carats, and there are comfortably more than ninety stones across the piece, well over five carats in total. All are set in silver-topped gold, the Victorian method that keeps the diamonds white at the front while gold carries the strength behind.
It also has a fitted suspension loop at the top, so it can be worn as a pendant as well as a brooch, and it comes in its original fitted box.
