The emerald is set high on yellow gold claws, which is the traditional way of warming the green rather than cooling it against white metal. A shield cut diamond flanks each side, and the shoulders are laid with a channel of square cut diamonds below a row of round brilliants, so the width tapers cleanly into the shank.
