Cartier introduced the Trinity ring in 1924, three bands rolling through one another in three colours of gold, and the design has never left the collection. Louis Cartier is said to have read the three colours as three parts of a bond: rose for love, yellow for fidelity, white for friendship.
The bands are not soldered to each other. They interlace and turn freely, which is the whole point of the design and the reason the piece is often called the rolling ring. This charm is the ring in miniature, each band polished bright.
It hangs from Cartier's trigger clasp rather than a fixed bail, so it clips onto a chain or a charm bracelet directly. The clasp is signed Cartier over 750 for 18KT gold and carries the serial number.
