Art Deco style platinum ring, the round plaque set with an oval sapphire within a wheel of triangular cut sapphires on a diamond ground.
An oval sapphire is collet set at the centre of a circular plaque. Around it, triangular cut sapphires are set point inward at even intervals like the spokes of a wheel, with diamonds filling the ground between them and a further diamond border running round the rim. Cutting a sapphire to a true triangle wastes more rough than an oval does, which is why the arrangement was reserved for better work.
