A cushion cut ruby of strong pink red is collet set upright at the centre of an oval plaque. Around it calibre cut rubies are laid in stepped panels that follow the oval, and the whole is framed by an openwork diamond border with milgrain along every edge. Burma has been the reference source for ruby for five centuries, and the stone here carries that origin on its report.
