Art Deco Diamond Brooch, Platinum
An Art Deco brooch in platinum, built as a geometric openwork plaque with a pear-shaped old-cut diamond suspended at its heart and a dense field of smaller old cuts filling the pierced lattice around it.
The 1920s were platinum's decade: strong enough to be drawn into fine pierced galleries that would collapse in gold, and white enough to disappear behind the stones. Held to the light the openwork throws a lace shadow, the effect these brooches were designed for.
Compact at 2.7cm and easy to place on a lapel, collar or a plain dress.
