Antique 19th century Italian micromosaic bangle in 21KT gold, the front panel set with swans and doves in minute glass tesserae within a lattice of gold, flanked by columnar hinges with turned finials.

The front is divided by crossing gold bands into lozenges and triangles. The lozenges carry a pair of swans on water and two doves bearing olive branches, each on a deep red ground, and the triangles between them are laid in turquoise and white with stylised lotus motifs. Twisted gold ropework borders the panel. The reverse is worked in gold wire scrolls in the Etruscan Revival manner, and the bangle opens on a hinge set between two architectural columns. Micromosaics of this quality were made in Rome for the Grand Tour travellers of the 19th century.
