Plaque, target and cluster rings
A plaque ring has a flat, geometric head set edge to edge with stones. A target ring has rings of stones around a centre stone. Cluster rings group small stones around a larger one.
Platinum and millegrain
Most Art Deco rings are platinum, strong enough to hold stones with very little metal, and are finished with millegrain, a row of tiny beads along the edge of each setting.
Calibre cut stones
Calibre cut stones are cut to fit a shape exactly, such as the sapphire shoulders on a ring, and sit side by side without visible metal between them.
