Cartier Tortue XL CPCP Ref. 2763, 18KT Rose Gold Manual Wind Watch
A Cartier Tortue XL in 18KT rose gold, reference 2763, from the Collection Privée Cartier Paris. Between 1998 and 2008 the CPCP line revived Cartier's most important early designs and fitted them with high grade mechanical movements, and it remains the most closely followed of all modern Cartier collections.
The tonneau case is the Tortue shape Cartier introduced in 1912, here in the larger XL proportion. The silvered guilloché dial carries black painted Roman numerals, a chemin de fer minute track and blued steel apple hands, and is signed Cartier Paris, the signature used only on CPCP pieces. The octagonal crown is set with a faceted blue sapphire.
Through the sapphire caseback is the calibre 9601 MC, a manual winding movement of 20 jewels with a 40 hour power reserve, developed from the 8000 MC that Jaeger LeCoultre built for Cartier. The bridges are hand chamfered and decorated with an interlaced double C motif, and one wheel carries a heat blued stylised C. The caseback is individually numbered N° 038.
Fitted to a black alligator strap with a signed 18KT rose gold Cartier deployant buckle.
