A fine George III period silver stirrup cup, realistically modelled as the head of a snarling fox. Expertly cast and chased, the fox’s features are rendered with remarkable detail, from its alert ears and sharp eyes to the textured fur and bared teeth. The interior is richly gilded, enhancing the ceremonial function and protecting the silver from contents. This sculptural piece exemplifies the craftsmanship of the Georgian period, blending naturalistic form with function. Hallmarked to the lower rim for Sheffield, 1807, with the maker's mark of Henry Tudor and Thomas Leader.
