Antique Victorian highly ornate 9kt bi-colour gold Albert Chain with intricate links.
The necklace features round faceted belcher links alternating with ridged flower-shaped belcher links. Interspersed among these links are ornate bar links. This double Albert chain is equipped with fixed Albert end clasps on both ends. In the middle of the chain, there is a T-bar.

History

The chain was typically worn with a waistcoat or vest and was used to hold a pocket watch.
The chain was named after Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, who was known for wearing this style of chain.
The chains were often made of gold and had decorative links, such as T-bars or dog clips.
Even though Prince Albert passed away in 1861, Albert's chains still were made after his death and the fashion trend he popularized lived on, and continued to be made and worn well after his death.
They were particularly popular during the late 19th century and early 20th century and went out of fashion by the 1920s.
